Man shot dead over old score

OKARA, March 26: A man was shot dead while two others sustained injuries when rivals resorted to firing to settle a family dispute in Bongi Bhosan village on Sunday evening.

Reports said Nawab Bhatti and Nazar Muhammad had a dispute over exchanged marriages. On Sunday, Bhatti, his brother Gulzar and friend Sarfraz were on their way back home when Muhammad and his sons Riaz, Mumtaz, Muhammad Iftikhar, Muhammad Gulzar and Muhammad Rafiq intercepted them and fired at them.

Bhatti died instantly while his brother and friend sustained grievous injuries.

INJURED: A widow was injured by her neighbours over a minor issue in 26/1-AL village on Sunday.

According to details, Maryam and her neighbours had a quarrel sometimes back. On Sunday, she was going somewhere when Wajid Ali, Amjad Ali and four others attacked her. She was admitted to the local Divisional Headquarters Hospital.

NOTIFICATION: The Chief Election Commission (CEC) of Pakistan on Monday issued notification for district Okara’s new primary Halqa Bandi (constitution for national and provincial assemblies).

Two seats for provincial assembly and one constituency for national assembly have been increased.

For this primary constituency, five seats for national assembly NA 143, Okara I, NA 144 Okara 2, NA 145 Okara 3, NA 146 Okara 4, NA 147 Okara 5 while nine for provincial seats PP, OK 1, PP 186 OK 2, PP 187 OK 3, PP 188 OK 4, PP 189 OK 5, PP 190 OK 6, PP 191 OK 7, PP 192 OK 8 and PP 193 OK 9 have been included.
