SPI shows increase

ISLAMABAD, March 18: The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the week ended on March 14, registered an increase of 0.15 per cent over the corresponding week.

And SPI registered a growth of 5.64 per cent when compared to the corresponding week ended on March 15, 2001 last year.

While SPI of the same week for combined income group recorded an increase of 0.10 per cent over previous week with a rise of 4.69pc over last year.

Official figures released by the Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS) on Monday, showed during the week under review, the average prices of 10 items decreased, prices of 10 items increased, while average prices of 31 items remained unchanged.

The items, prices of which decrease during the week under review included, garlic, eggs, gur, chicken farm, mash plus, potatoes, gram pulse, vegetable ghee (loose), mustard oil and sugar.

And the average prices of items, which registered increase in the week under review included, tomatoes, onion, bananas, vegetable ghee (tin), moong pulse, masoor pulse, rice Irri-6, cooking oil (Habib), rice basmati (broken) and red chilies (powdered).
