KARACHI: Cop shoots man to death

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, March 17: A police constable shot a taxi-driver to death in Siraj Colony, Nazimabad, on Sunday.

Police said Manuel Masih, aged 40, was allegedly shot dead by Sarwar Masih, a constable posted at Shahrah-i-Noor Jehan police station, at his residence in Siraj Colony and escaped.

Police said three years back Manuel had stabbed and injured Akram Masih, brother of Sarwar Masih, in a dispute.

On early Sunday morning, Sarwar came to Manuel’s home and escaped after spraying Manuel with bullets. The body was sent to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post-mortem, police said.

Sources at the hospital said three bullets pierced through the victim’s chest.

Police said Manuel left behind five children. The killer also resided in the same locality.

A watchman was stabbed to death in Boat Basin on late Saturday night.

Police said unidentified assailants stabbed Mohammed Bakhsh, aged 60, to death on the second floor of block-2 of Marine Drive, an apartment building, where he was a watchman.

Police said the dead watchman was the caretaker of an unoccupied apartment.

The body was sent to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for post- mortem.

The boy was rushed to the JPMC where he died.
