KARACHI: Ulema assure govt of support against terrorism

KARACHI, March 16: The chairman, Milli Yakjehti Council (MYC), Sindh, Maulana Asad Thanvi, and other prominent ulema of all sects have appreciated the arrangements made by the government during Muharram, but expressed concern over the recent killing of doctors and termed it a deliberate act to sabotage the government’s efforts to combat extremism and sectarianism.

The ulema resolved to fight the recent wave of terrorism side-by-side with the government and assured the administration of their full support in this regard.

According to a press release issued on Saturday, a meeting was held with MYC, Sindh, at the home department which was chaired by home secretary on the directive of Governor Mohammedmian Soomro.

The home secretary told the meeting that the government was making all-out efforts to apprehend the culprits.—PPI
