Concern over freight hike

KARACHI, March 15: The chairman, Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers Association (PHMA), Muhammad Kamran Chandna urged the chairman, EPB, Tariq Ikram to take up the issue of arbitrary increase in freight rates to Europe.

In a communication addressed to the EPB chairman the PHMA chief pointed out that increase in freight rates by shipping companies on account of GRI (General Rate Increase) to Europe by $200 for 1x20’ and $4000 for 1x40’ containers are unjust.

Kamran said that the textile ancillary industry after Sept 11, incident had been under tremendous pressure as it was receiving lesser export orders from the West.
