People hold demo against Hesco official

By Our Correspondent

KHAIRPUR, March 13: Numerous consumers took out a procession against the SDO, Hesco, Mehrabpur, in Halani, and observed token hunger strike on Wednesday.

The protesters told newsmen that the SDO was harassing the consumers by disconnecting their electricity.

They threatened to protest further if action was not taken against the SDO concerned.

On being contacted, the SDO claimed that the protesters were using electricity “unlawfully”.

PPP: The vice president, PPP (Sindh), Manzoor Hussain Wassan warned that if the government tried to create hurdles in the path of the long march against the construction of the Greater Thal Canal then it itself would be responsible for the consequences.

He said that the long march was not against any province but it was directed against the scheme which would throw Sindh into social and economic depression.

He said that the sole interest regarding it was to draw the attention of the nation towards the harmful scheme of the Greater Thal Canal.

CRUSHED TO DEATH: A teenaged boy, A. Dino (14), was crushed to death under the wheels of a truck (PRS-2791) on the National Highway at the Haji Abdul Karim Phul village on Tuesday night.
