LAHORE, March 12: The Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab organized an antique car ‘rally’ in the city on Tuesday.
Some of the 30 cars registered for the event were unable to make it. The remaining drove through The Mall, Racecourse Road, Jail Road and along the city canal back to Egerton Road.
The main rally will start from Hazoori Bagh at 9:30am on Wednesday. Travelling on the GT Road, the cars will reach Liaquat Bagh, Rawalpindi. There will be three 15-minute stopovers at Gujranwala Cantonment, the TDCP resort at Kharian and the Canal Rest House at Jhelum.
The panel of judges comprises — PTDC’s managing director Masood Ali Khan, TDCP’s managing director Raees Abbas Zaidi, TDCP’s general manager (Operations) Mian Shahid Mahmood and the Rawalpindi district coordination officer.
Addressing the rally participants on Tuesday, Mr Zaidi said it was the first rally of its kind in the province. He said 30 cars had been registered for the rally in four categories. He also briefed the rally participants about the by-laws.
The owner of a Dodge Brothers (1926 model) car said his father had purchased it. Another car owner, Farrukh Naeem, and Col Zaheerul Hasan, the SSP (Traffic), also spoke on the occasion.
