Munir sworn in as acting CJ

ISLAMABAD, March 12: Justice Munir A. Sheikh, the senior judge of the Supreme Court, was sworn in as the Acting Chief Justice of Pakistan.

The oath was administered by Justice Nazim Hussain Siddiqui, the next senior judge of the Supreme Court. Justice Munir A. Sheikh will act as the Chief Justice of Pakistan during the period Justice Sheikh Riaz Ahmad, Chief Justice of Pakistan performs the functions of President of Pakistan.

The ceremony was attended by the judges of the Supreme Court, attorney general of Pakistan, advocate general Punjab and the other law officer of the government, a large number of advocates, officers and staff of the Supreme Court and Pakistan Law Commission.
