Irsa to discuss water crisis in Sindh today

ISLAMABAD, March 12: The chairman of Indus River System Authority, Noor Mohammad Baloch, has been called by the Sindh government at a special meeting of the provincial cabinet to be held on Wednesday, to discuss the water crisis, Dawn reliably learnt.

Mr Baloch who also represents Sindh government at Irsa would also apprise the provincial government about the recent deliberations held at Irsa and the recommendation forwarded by Irsa to the chief executive secretariat.

The chief executive secretariat has also convened a meeting of Irsa officials for March 16, which would be presided over by Brig Tariq Hameed.

President Pervez Musharraf is also expected to preside a meeting by the end of this month to review the recommendations given by the provinces for resolving the dispute over water distribution.
