Sikandar admitted to hospital

By Our Staff Correspondent

MUZAFFARABAD, March 12: Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Sardar Sikandar Hayat Khan was admitted to the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC) in Rawalpindi from his home district of Kotli on Tuesday after he developed chest pain, official sources said.

The premier’s condition deteriorated during a public meeting in Charhoi (Kotli district), where he was the chief guest, the sources said, but added that he had not left the place and addressed the gathering after “feeling a bit relieved.”

At the conclusion of the meeting, the PM was taken to Rawalpindi through an army helicopter and admitted to the AFIC.

A ruling party leader told this correspondent by telephone from the AFIC that Mr Khan had suffered mild pain due to excursion, “but now he is fine.”

He said, “His tests are clear, but the doctors have advised him to take rest for a couple of days.”
