SC to interpret NWFP law about land acquisition

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, March 12: The Supreme Court (SC) will interpret the NWFP’s law governing urban land acquisition, for striking a balance between the parties to avoid injustice to the land owners.

On the appeal of Muhammad Javed Khan and the secretary provincial government, Urban Development Board Peshawar, an SC bench decided to hear the matter in detail.

The petition for leave to appeal was filed against the common judgment by division bench of the Peshawar High Court, Circuit Bench Abbottabad on a writ petition No75 of 1995.

Justice Rana Bhagwandas, writing for the bench, observed that the court was stated that it was a case which had raised numerous questions required to be considered and reappraised in terms of law as well as facts.
