KARACHI, March 10: The National Workers Party’s secretary general Yusuf Mustikhan here on Sunday evening called upon the political and social workers to wage a war against corruption culture which, he said, was eating away the fibre of the society.
“Corruption culture has become so pervasive in the country that the people have lost confidence in every institution, which is not a good omen for the future of the country”, he said.
Paying tributes to a senior political and social worker of Lyari Town, late Master Amin, at a seminar, Mr Mustikhan urged political workers and intellectuals to come forward and play their due role in mobilising the people against the “politics of money” which is the source of corruption.
Highlighting the importance of the seminar held in memory of a senior political worker and academician , Nazim Lyari Town, Abdul Khalique Juma, said such events should be held regularly in the locality to remember the services of those prominent figures of the locality who dedicated their lives for the services of the people.
In that regard, he suggested that we must shun all our political differences and expressed the hope that “today’s seminar would help in the promotion of that idea.
Earlier, a number of speakers, including Mama Yunis Baloch and Lala Faqir Baloch, paid tributes to the Master Amin. They said the late leader had worked for the downtrodden and made a big contribution in the social sector.
They also expressed concern over the murder of Dr Muzzaffer Ali and held the government agencies responsible for it. They said the incident would have far-reaching effects on the law and order situation in the locality which had so far been free from incidence of violence.
