NAWABSHAH, March 8: The acting chairperson of the Pakis-tan People’s Party (PPP) Mak-hdoom Amin Faheem has said that the role of army should be according to the constitution of 1973.

Talking to the newsmen here on Friday, he said the PPP would take part in the coming elections and would win with a clear majority throughout Pakistan.

He said the PPP was planning to bring Benazir Bhutto back to Pakistan so that she could lead the party. She would land on the right time and the central executive committee of the party would announce the date of her return, he added.

Referring to new scheme of electoral process, Mr Faheem said the PPP had always supported the idea of increasing women seats but not those of technocrats.

Answering a question about construction of Thal canal, he said that no province should be deprived of its rights, including Sindh, and all the provinces should be given equal rights to enjoy the benefits.

He said that he would soon meet Sindh PPP president and would discuss with him the plan of protest against the project.

He said that the Sindh Democratic Alliance was formed by the government on the pattern of the IJI to counter the PPP in the elections.

On party affairs in NWFP, he said he tried his level best to dispel the misunderstandings of Mr Sherpao but his efforts remained unsuccessful.

Later, Mr Faheem visited Sikandar Art Gallery of Qazi Khizer Hayat and appreciated his art.
