Collardin slams double hat trick

LAHORE, March 7: Eight goals by Toto Collardin, including a double hat trick enabled KFC/Remounts to beat Nee Punhal/Diamond Paints 10-5 in the Samsung National Open polo championship at the Lahore Polo Club Thursday.

In another match of the contest, Samsung Blues beat Samsung Whites 9-3.

Collardin scored both goals of first chukker. At start of second chukker, he scored a field goal to complete his hat trick, wile Captain Haseeb Minhas scored two field goals in second and third chukker for KFC/ Remounts.

Collardin surged ahead in the fourth chukker scoring three more goals converting two 30  yards penalty-hits and later converting a 60 yards penalty-hit. He scored his last two goals for KFC/Remounts in the fifth chukker, again on 30 yards penalty-hits.

For Nee Punha/Diamond Paints, Shah Qublai Alam struck  thrice while Shah Shamyl Alam and Samiullah scored a goal, each.

In the other match, Samsung Whites could score three goals through Lt-Col Isfandyar Pataudi, Ramiro Garros and Malik Asif Yar Tiwana. But Samsung Blues struck at regular intervals to  win the match.

Diego Araya alone scored five goals for Samsung Blues. His second, third and fourth were field goals which completed his hat trick.  

He also scored a field goal in fifth chukker. Malik Atif Yar  Tiwana and Taimur Mawaz Khan “Tony” scored two field goals, each to give Samsung Blues the heavy 9-3 victory.
