WASHINGTON, March 7: Education Minister Zubaida Jalal on Wednesday briefed World Bank President James Wolfensohn about reforms undertaken as part of the president’s national reconstruction plan aimed at producing a qualified and more productive human force in the country.
She also complimented the bank’s correction in its policies towards education for the 21st century, considering that for nearly 30 years it had been focusing only on primary education.
Wolfensohn assured the minister that the bank would now take a more balanced and sector-wide approach to education. He will visit Pakistan in May.—APP
