Sacked teachers threaten protest

By Our Staff Correspondent

FAISALABAD, March 6: The Punjab Ad hoc Lecturers Association has demanded the governor to reinstate all teachers, otherwise they will launch a protest movement against the government.

In a statement here on Wednesday, association vice-president Azharul Hasan said the previous governments recruited ad hoc lecturers in colleges of rural areas, but the present government terminated them from service in August, 2001.

He demanded that the government should evolve some feasible policy to reinstate these lecturers as their families had been facing financial problems.

KILLED: Cattle-lifters shot dead a villager during a dacoity bid in Chak 57-RB on Tuesday night.

Some masked men tried to lift milch animals from the outhouse of one Sukhan Khan. On resistance, the bandits shot dead Sukhan Khan and fled.

Police have registered a case.
