ISLAMABAD, March 4: Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP) has sent 32 cases of serious financial irregularities of various ministries and divisions worth more than Rs7 billion to National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

According to highly placed sources, these cases were referred to NAB on the basis of Audit Reports prepared by the office of Auditor General of Pakistan for further investigation and action.

The list of all the 32 cases is following:

Construction of Prime Minister’s Secretariat Building (full report): Rs276.420 million; construction of polo grounds and stable shades in Prime Minister’s House: Rs.111.702 million; temporary misappropriation by former Pakistan High Commissioner in UK (Para No.25 of the audit report): 616,144 pounds; Pakistan State Oil companies for 1995-97 (Full Report): Rs50 million; Yasoob Group of Companies for 1989-97 audit report: Rs11.270 million; Issue of free Tickets by PIA for 1995-97 audit report: Rs8.124 million; GE Army West (audit report): Rs.996.774 million; GE Army East: Rs518.271 million; Purchase of Helicopter (Para No.2 of the audit report): Rs.30.736 million; Irregularities in three different Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) housing scheme: Rs725.120; Undue favour extended to consultants and contractors in two projects of the same organization: Rs986.350 million; Irregularities in Prime Minister’s training programme: Rs.65.628 million; Inefficiency in remaining of PTS/VTSP by OPF: Rs21.576 million; Irregularities in Prime Minister’s Special package of Overseas Pakistanis: Rs4.013 million; Miscellaneous mismanagement in OPF: Rs16.286 million; three different case of NDFC worth Rs126.125 million; Rs294 million and Rs413.137 million respectively; two case of ADBP (full audit report): Rs115.636 million and Rs312.462 million respectively; NDFC Regional Office Islamabad (Full Audit Report): Rs90.659 million; Utility Stores Corporation, Islamabad (Full Audit Report): Rs107.965 million; Wapda (Power Privatization Wing) (Full Audit Report): Rs.49.495 million; Ghazi Brotha Hydel Project (GBHP) Wapda (Full Audit Report): Rs.14.740 million; Kot Addu Power House, Wapda (Full Audit Report): Rs402.000 million; Kot Addu Power Station (KTPS) (Full Audit Report): Rs285.829 million; Land Acquisition Collector, Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) Project Management Unit (PMU) Peshawar (Full Audit Report): Rs41.4 million, two cases of Fertilizer Import Department (FID), Ministry of Food and Agriculture, Islamabad (Full Audit Report): Rs225.920 million and Rs140.852 million.

According to the office of the Audit Department, irregularities of a total amount Rs.7058.404 Million and 616,144 pounds in the above mentioned cases sent to NAB by the office of the Auditor General of Pakistan after the completion of all legal formalities.

Sixty-four cases of misappropriation and irregularities were sent to NAB by the ad-hoc Federal Public Accounts Committee after reviewing various audit reports of different ministries, divisions and corporations.—APP
