Heavy rain disrupts civic life


DADU, March 2: The city of Dadu and its surrounding areas received rain with thunderstorm on Friday night, resulting in failure of electricity and telephone systems.

The rain water was standing in low-lying area and sanitation conditions of the town had broken down. The power was restored after 14 hours.

No loss of life and property was reported from any part of the town.

Earlier, a heavy rain on late Friday night paralysed the civic life in Sukkur, Rohri, and Khairpur.

The rain which started at about midnight continued till early Saturday morning.

Several localities were inundated with knee deep water.

The underground drainage water had also been flowing at many places and had entered some of the houses in New Goth, Nishtar Road and Liaquat Chowk localities.

Power breakdowns were reported from all parts of Sukkur city and Rohri, due to the collapse of high-tension live wires near Airport Road area.

According to agriculture experts, the rainwater would benefit the crops.—APP
