KARACHI: Six cars, seven bikes hijacked

KARACHI, March 1: A 12-year-old boy and a young man fell victim to reckless driving in the city on Friday.

An unidentified young man died in a road accident on M. T. Khan Road in the night. Edhi sources said that the victim, who was in his mid-30s, was run over by a passenger coach while walking across the road near the Baharia Auditorium.

The coach-driver was apprehended near Tower. He was taken to an Edhi Centre and later handed over to the police.

A 12-year-old boy was knocked down by an unidentified vehicle in the police limits of New Town. The boy, Saad, was rushed to a private hospital where he died.

CARJACKING: Thirteen vehicles — six cars and seven motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city on Friday, the police said. Three cars were hijacked. Three others were stolen. One motorcycle was hijacked. Six others were stolen.

The police also claimed on Friday to have recovered seven cars (one taxi) and three motorcycles in the city.

SHOT DEAD: A man was shot dead in a petty dispute in Chakiwara on late Thursday night.

The police said that Ashfaq, aged 32, and Nazeer Ahmed, dined together at an eating-house in Chakiwara. Later on, Nazeer took out a pistol and opened fire on Ashfaq after they had arguments over a money dispute.

Nazeer escaped after wounding Ashfaq, the police added.

Ashfaq was rushed to Civil Hospital where he died. The police claimed to have arrested the suspect, Nazeer, in Chakiwara.
