LONDON, March 1: Many Afghan refugees in Britain are planning to return home following the end of Taliban regime and establishment of an interim government in Kabul.

It was learnt that skilled Afghans like doctors, engineers and ex-army officers are keen to be back home and take part in the nation-building activities.

But some of those who want to return said that they are worried over the factional fighting, despite the presence of the multinational peace force in Afghanistan.

The Afghan embassy staff has been drawing up lists of skilled and professional Afghans who are willing to help with the country’s rebuilding programme.

But the idea to return home has also been criticized by many Afghan refugee groups, who say that even in Kabul the situation is far from stable.

AIP reports: Around 500 Afghan refugees and displaced people started on their journey home under UN repatriation programmes, refugee agencies and reports said on Friday from Islamabad.
