250 English teachers denied salaries

By Our Correspondent

OKARA, Feb 22: Around 250 English teachers have been denied salaries for the last two months due to the negligence of two education officials.

English Teachers’ Union President Muhammad Farooq protested at a meeting on Friday that despite higher officials’ decision, the deputy district officers in Okara and Deepalpur were adamant to giving salaries according to the old pay scales. He claimed all the other teachers in the district had already drawn their salaries according to the revised scale.

The union demanded that both the officials should be transferred for violating the orders of the finance department.

RATES: The rates of sacrificial animals remained high in the district a day before Eid here on Friday.

A survey conducted by this correspondent revealed lesser number of buyers turned up as compared to the previous year.
