KARACHI: Presence of coalition forces challenged

By Our Reporter

KARACHI, Feb 22: A petition challenging the presence of the US-led coalition forces at the Karachi airport and facilities accorded to them will come up on Feb 26 in the Sindh High Court.

The petitioner, Syed Ali Fawad Shah, through his counsel, Nihal Hashmi, has invoked the court’s jurisdiction alleging that his relatives were badly treated by the personnel of the US-led coalition forces and the local security agencies, when they were proceeding for Haj.

The petitioner has contended that the attitude of the personnel belonging to the coalition forces was very humiliating, especially with those who were proceeding for Haj.

The petitioner contended that the coalition forces had gradually assumed control of the country’s strategic installations which generated apprehensions about their future intentions.

The counsel has prayed the court to direct the respondent to refuse such facility to any foreign force.
