HYDERABAD, Feb 22: The chairman of standing committee for sales tax and custom duty, Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Haji Mohammad Yaqoob, has expressed concern over the constitution of tax monitoring teams by the Central Board of Revenue (CBR) and of a crackdown against tax payers.

In a statement, Mr Yaqoob said that due to the appointment of monitoring team, investment climate would receive a setback and added that the proposed crackdown against the tax payers had created harassment among the business community.

He was of the opinion that the economic revival programme would be jeopardized and the tax recovery would also be affected due to these steps.

He urged the CBR to immediately stop the appointment of tax monitoring teams.
