KARACHI, Feb 22: The Sindh governor promulgated an ordinance on Thursday barring the councillors from moving no-confidence motion against the Nazims at different tiers of local government in the province till Dec 31.

The ordinance called the Sindh Local Government (Amendment) Ordinance 2002 shall come into force at once and be deemed to have taken effect on and from February 14, 2002.

Through the ordinance, the following new section has been added to the Sindh Local Government Ordinance 2001, after section 181:

“181-A: Internal Recall of Nazims - notwithstanding anything contained in sections 24, 63 and 85 an internal recall motion against the Zila Nazim, Taluka Nazim, Town Nazim or Union Nazim elected under this ordinance, shall not be moved before December 31, 2002.”—PPI
