ISLAMABAD, Feb 22: Increased economic cooperation was discussed between the Romanian Ambassador, Dr Emil Ghitulescu and Finance Minister Shaukat Aziz on Friday morning.
According to an official, upcoming meeting of Pakistan and Romania joint economic mission also came under discussion during the meeting.
The commission meeting scheduled to be held on March 4 in Islamabad where Romania will be represented by a large delegation headed by deputy minister of the ministry of Industry.
Shaukat Aziz discussed with the Romanian ambassador the extensive economic ties between the two countries an important role Romanian companies have played in developing the industrial sector in Pakistan particularly in the cement and oil refinery.
The joint economic commission’s meeting will further promote these ties and allow the private sectors of the two countries to increase trade and investment.
The Romanian Ambassador appreciated the reforms initiated by the Government and said that the improvement in the economy will allow further increase of commercial relations between the two countries.
He said that Romanian Export-Import Bank will be willing to finance import of industrial machinery and equipment to Pakistan and highlighted the need for the private sectors of the two countries to work even more closely in the future.
The Finance Minister thanked the Romanian Ambassador for his efforts in promoting relations between the two countries.
