ISLAMABAD, Feb 21: President Gen Pervez Musharraf on Thursday assured the journalist community that the 7th Wage Award would be implemented.

“This issue is in my knowledge and we will get your new wage award implemented,” he told reporters after having spoken at a convocation organized by the Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences.

C.R. Shamsi, senior vice-president of the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists, and Secretary-General Fauzia Shahid apprised the president about the problems of the working journalists.

The president said he would inquire from the concerned officials why the new wage award was not being implemented. He also said that he would soon be meeting the representatives of journalists to know their problems.

Last month, the press secretary to the president and Director-General of the Inter-Service Public Relations, Maj-Gen Rashid Qureshi, had assured the journalist community that various hurdles in the implementation of 7th Wage Board Award would be removed.
