Defiant Ramzan rescues Faisalabad

KARACHI, Feb 21: Former Test batsman Mohammad Ramzan saved Faisalabad from a certain defeat by stroking an unbeaten 100 in their Quaid Trophy Grade-I tie against Gujranwala at Jinnah Stadium in Gujranwala Thursday.

Faisalabad, who resumed at 38 for two in their second innings after being asked to follow-on, were heading for the inevitable when they crashed to 173 for six.

But Ramzan, who faced 153 balls in a stay of 161 minutes, held up Gujranwala’s victory charge in the unbroken seventh-wicket partnership of 110 in 126 minutes Yasir Mushtaq (13 off 88 balls).

Faisalabad were 283 for six when the match ended with Gujranwala taking three points for their first innings lead of 310.
