KARACHI, Feb 21: Three ships carrying steel coils, containers and high speed diesel are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Friday, according to KPT sources.

Berth occupancy at the wharves was modest as seven ships were berthed and sailed out, giving a better average of 61 per cent at the Bulk Oil Piers and 48pc on the dry berths.

Five ships, Sinar Bangka, Leixoes and MSC Lucy to unload and load containers, Flame to offload rock phosphate and Marine Trader to load rice were berthed after the sailing of two.

The ships, which departed included X-Press Dhaulagiri and Wan Hai-233, while Leixoes, Golden Gate, Illapel and Kota Sabas are due to sail out on Friday.

Cargo handling activity at the wharves was active where a total tonnage of 88,719 tons comprising 9,714 tons of export cargo including 2,156 tons of rice and 79,005 tons of import tonnage was handled.

The following ships are due on Friday: Al-Maqwa, with high speed diesel, Kota Sabas and Al-Wajba, with containers.

The following ships are coming on Saturday: Pinta, with oils, Kota Sale, Sinar Riav, Trade Fast, PONL Everest, Hyundai Future, and Lanka Mahapola, with containers.

KARACHI, Feb 21: Two ships carrying wheat and chemicals were allotted berths at Marginal Wharf and IOCB Terminal respectively during the last 24 hours, says PQA press release on Thursday.

Meanwhile, a container ship also arrived at the outer anchorage of the port.

Five ships, Eline-G, Madre and Micheal-S, Orchid and Chemstar Eagle were at the berths loading/discharging wheat, furnace oil and chemicals respectively.

A cargo volume of 45,242 tons comprising 38,148 tons import tonnage and 7,094 tons export tonnage was handled.
