Rs100m for educational institutions in Toba dist

By Our Correspondent

TOBA TEK SINGH, Feb 20: Special funds of Rs100 million have been provided for the uplift of educational institutions in the district.

An education department spokesman said on Wednesday the amount would be spent on the construction of additional classrooms, boundary walls, toilets and laboratories.

He said another amount of Rs20 million had been allocated from the Khushhal Pakistan Programme for 40 similar development schemes in various government schools.

More money was also expected from the education sector reforms programme and the second science education project for educational institutions in the district, he added.

CONCERN: Farmers have expressed their concern that the Irrigation XEN, Jhang office, has still not provided ‘khasra gurdawari’ registers to patwaris of the Toba Tek Singh district.

Cultivators complained that when they contacted their area patwaris for the payment of water rate (abiana) and revenue tax, they said their bills could not be completed for want of khasra gurdawari books.

They also complained that the ‘khatooni entry forms’ were also not available in the offices of local patwaris.
