KU annex badminton trophy

KARACHI, Feb 19: Karachi University (KU) annexed the Pakistan Inter-varsity badminton (girls) championship when they outplayed Punjab University (PU) in straight matches at the Karachi University Tuesday.

Karachi University turned out to be a much better side than their opponents evident from the fact that they dropped just one game.

Asiya, in the first singles, recovered after dropping the first game to beat Hina 3-11 11-4 11-3.

Aisha Rais doubled the lead for Karachi University when she mauled Shakeela Khan 11-5 11-7. Sumera Shahid and Beenish Sharif sealed victory for Karachi University when they thrashed the pair of Shakeela and Aqeela 15-1 15-2.

In the third place play-off match, Peshawar University beat Sindh University, Jamshoro, 3-2 in a well-contested match.

Farheen lost to Marium 5-11 11-13

Shehla/Farheen beat Salma/Fauzia 11-5 13-11

Saira/Ruqaiya lost to Naheed/Marium 7-15 11-15

Fauzia beat Ruqaiya 11-4 11-6

VOLLEYBALL

Punjab University have an excellent opportunity to avenge badminton defeat from Karachi University when they take on the home team in the Pakistan Inter-varsity volleyball (girls) final.

Punjab University defeated Peshawar University 25-13 25-12 25-16 while Karachi University beat Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan, 25-3 25-9 25-16.
