Blu’s Wendy set to make amends for near misses

LAHORE, Feb 19: Five-year-old bay horse, Blu’s Wendy, can claim feature event of the mid-week Lahore Gymkhana races at the Racecourse Wednesday.

A constant favourite , Blu’s Wendy was very unlucky to be beaten to second place consecutively in as many outings previously. He should make amends this time, if no dark horse upsets again. His victory seems rather to be long overdue now.

Shahpur Plate for class VII division III & IV combined race will be run over five furlongs and will be the sixth and last event of the day. It has a field of 11 runners, if there are no last-minute withdrawals.

Besides Blu’s Wendy, chestnut filly, Royal Prosper, roan colt Puma Star and chestnut gelding Aao Payar Se are the other form animals in this race. They can give tough time to Blu’s Wendy.

Bay mare Turn On has come down in weight scales considerably but has not shown any form to be rated as a threat for the turn of the tide.

Shahpur Plate class VII division IV & V combined handicap race is the supporting event, which will be fifth race of the day.

Two four-year-old fillies, Lucky Credit Queen and Silver Heart and bay gelding Burq Raftar are the pick of the 18-strong field in this event. All three are speedy racers over the sprinting distance of five furlongs. The skill of the rider will count much because on handicap they are equally on chance. They should fight to win the top honours. But there is one negative point that all the three have bookies connections.

All events will be contested over five furlongs starting from 12.30 pm.
