DR Attiya Inayatullah and Zobaida Jalal are encouraging the women to take active part in the forthcoming elections as it will ensure the empowerment of women. On Feb 12, speaking at a PML (QA) women wing function, Zobaida Jalal explained how education enabled women to be economically independent and consequently allowed them to share the family income. This factor enhances the status of women. Educated women, particularly professionals have every right to participate in the politics of the country and in power sharing.

Realizing that women in Pakistan continue to suffer discrimination worse than in any developing country, the Musharraf government has inducted women as ministers in his cabinet, and set aside 33 per cent of the seats for them in the local bodies election.
