Misbah strokes unbeaten 204

KARACHI, Feb 15: Test reject Misbah-ul-Haq blasted an undefeated 204 to help Sargodha take first innings points in the high-scoring drawn Quaid Trophy Grade-I encounter against Bahawalpur at Sports Stadium in Sargodha Friday.

The Sargodha skipper batted 14 minutes short of seven hours and negotiated 292 deliveries as his side overhauled Bahawalpur total of 526 for eight declared by amassing 571 for seven after resuming the final day on 293 for two.

No less than four batsmen failed to score in a remarkable innings that featured three centuries. Opener Mohammad Hafeez, 144 overnight, made a career-best 177 while Mohammad Nawaz had contributed 107 Thursday.

The home team eventually surpassed Bahawalpur’s score thanks to the 191-run stand in 187 minutes for the seventh wicket between Misbah and debutant Atiq Ahmed (55).
