KARACHI, Feb 13: Spinners Rizwan Ahmed and Imran Alam took advantage of some reckless Karachi Blues batting to give Hyderabad a handy first innings lead of 50 runs on the second day of the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Grade-I match here at KCCA Stadium Wednesday.
Rizwan Ahmed claimed five for 93 with his leg-spinners while Imran Alam, the off-spinner, finished with four for 41 as the Blues collapsed to 250 all out.
However, the Blues captain Mohammad Javed, stung by the unexpected Hyderabad dominance, struck with his medium-pacers as the visitors limped to 30 for two in their second innings.
Debutant opener Saqib Zia slammed five boundaries in scoring 35 off 57 balls in 88 minutes. Left-handed Atif Ali Zaidi, also making his debut, made a polished 50 off 94 balls. His 12-minute knock included seven boundaries.
The major innings, however, was played by experienced Farhan Adil. The right-hander top-scored with 84 in a stay of 157 minutes. Farhan’s 150-ball innings was spiced with four fours and a brace of sixes.
