Railway defaulter arrested

By Our Correspondent

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Feb 13: Bhakkar Railway Police arrested a defaulter who had been running an out-station railway agency for years without making any payment to the department.

Syed Charagh Hussain Shah son of Ghaus Mehr Shah, through his personal contacts with former railways minister Ghulam Ahmad Bilour, had set up the agency at Dera Ismail Khan, where passengers and traders were provided ticketing and cargo booking facilities.

But he paid nothing to the railways for many years, and an amount of over Rs7.5 million was outstanding against him.

The railway magistrate had issued his warrants in 2001, and Multan Railway Police arrived here at D.I. Khan to arrest him, but he was in Dubai. Recently, when he came back Bhakkar Railway Police arrested him.
