SIALKOT, Feb 11: Two persons were shot dead on Monday by two notorious proclaimed offenders over an old enmity in Jharaanwal village (Satrah) of Daska tehsil.
POs Asif and Saleh had come to the village on a motorcycle and opened fire on their rivals, killing Muhammad Boota and passerby Amanat Ali on the spot. The random firing also seriously injured two passersby — Imran and Latif. Imran was admitted to Daska civil hospital, while Latif was referred to a Lahore hospital for his serious condition. The accused escaped by firing in the air.
The POs had also killed a landlord, Akram, about a year ago.
SSP Muhammad Tahir constituted two special teams under the supervision of Daska DSP Ghulam Sabir Mir for the early arrest of the killers.
Satrah police are investigating the matter.
ARRESTED: The district police claim to have arrested five inter-district gangs of dacoits, 329 notorious proclaimed offenders and 188 court absconders during the last month.
In a press release issued here on Monday, SSP Muhammad Tahir said the police had recovered stolen goods worth Rs4.2 million, including 11 motorcycles, two cars, one pick-up, one auto rickshaw, electronic items, ornaments and other valuables.
He said the arrested dacoits were wanted by Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Lahore and Sheikhupura police in a number of cases.
