MQM for joint struggle

KHAIRPUR, Feb 11: Mutahidda Qaumi Movement chief, Altaf Hussain, has said that Benazir Bhutto was twice elected Prime Minister of Pakistan but she could not deliver the goods.

Addressing the newsmen at Khairpur Press Club on telephone here on Monday from London, he said the headquarters of all Jihadi organisations were in Punjab but anti-terrorists courts were being established in Sindh.

He said police in Sindh gun down Sindhis branding them dacoits. He expressed surprise as to why retired army officials were allotted lands in Sindh, not in Punjab.

He claimed that intelligence agencies and the establishment fanned Sindhi-Mohajir hatred under a well-thought-out plan.

He queried why Nawaz Sharif was allowed to proceed to Saudi Arabia with family and fortune. He said it proved the pro-Punjab policy of rulers.

He said that G.M. Syed was kept incarcerated for almost his entire life, because he demanded rights for Sindhis. He claimed that Punjab had turned Sindh into its colony and was usurping its rights.

He said Mutahidda and Sindhis would launch a joint struggle for attainment of rights.

He said the governor, IG and home secretary in Sindh “have always been appointed from amongst the Punjab’s officers” and warned of extreme action “if such practices were not terminated.”

The Mutahedda chief said if Pakistani border from Khokrapar was opened, he would be the first to step into Sindh from Khairpur.
