KOHAT, Feb 11: In a grand operation the Kohat police recovered huge quantity of ammunition and explosives from a house in the outskirts of the city and arrested one person on Sunday.

Twelve most-wanted criminals and 15 other anti-social elements were apprehended, police said.

The senior superintendent of police, Ihsan Ghani, who led the operation accompanied by ASP, Nisar Tanoli and SHO Malik Lal Fareed acting on a tip, raided a house in Mosam Khan Banda and seized eight dynamites, 17 kilograms of fine quality hashish, two rifles and a large number of cartridges. The owner of the house Rasheed Khan son of Jamtar Khan, a carrier, was also arrested.

Another police teams arrested 27 hardened criminals, including 12 proclaimed offenders, and seized five hand grenades, two Kalashnikovs, 22 kilograms of hashish, six rifles, four pistols, and 450 rounds.

The names of those arrested are Rehmat Khan, Naimat Khan, Mohammad Ashiq, Gulzar Hussain, Abdur Rehman, Azmat Khan, Tariq Pervez, Badr Khan, Musheer Ali, Afzal Ali, Baqir Ali and Nazeer Ali.

They were wanted by police in murder, dacoity and other heinous crimes.

To check crime in the area the police have opened two reporting centres, one each in Kandao and Jangle Khel police station, and a police check post in Mahmood Plaza has also been established.

But, after the passage of 25 days the police remains clueless about the whereabouts of eight kidnapped people, including four traders.

Negotiations for the recovery of Hafiz Gul Faraz, 22, who belongs to a very rich family, are in the final stage.
