JSM-J opposes division of Sindh

By Our Correspondent

SUKKUR, Feb 10: The division of Sindh as proposed by the National Reconstruction Bureau is against the interests of small provinces.

This was said by Jeay Sindh Mehaz (J) Chairman Abdul Khaliq Junejo, while speaking to the participants, who came to observe the 99th birth anniversary of G.M. Syed at the National Press Club on Sunday.

He said that if Sindh was divided to create more provinces the JSM-J would raise forceful voice against it.

He said that his organization was struggling against the excesses committed by rulers against Sindh, and would strive for the rights of the people.

He said G.M. Syed had devoted his entire life to achieving the rights of people.

He opposed the water distribution farmula of 1994, and said it was imposed on Sindh on the pressure of Punjab.

Sindh had opposed this accord, but its voice was not heeded, he added.

He said people of Sindh had given sacrifices for their rights in the past, and they would not go in vain.

On this occasion, a birthday cake was cut by Junejo.

Central Vice Chairman of Mehaz Dr Barkat Jatoi, Secretary General Khan Muhammad Bhayo, Hadi Bux Bhutt of the Awami Tehrik and others also spoke on the occasion.

ROAD BLOCKED: Over one hundred people of the Mirani clan on Sunday staged a protest demonstration and blocked the Shikarpur-Kandhkot road against police failure to recover Khadim Hussain Mirani, who was kidnapped a couple of days back.

The protesters were demanding of the government to recover Tapedar Khadim Hussain Mirani, and register an FIR against the kidnappers.

Later DSP Tashkil Haider reached there and assured them of effective steps for the recovery. The protesters ended their blockade on his assurance.

However, the police registered a case against 49 people for blocking the road, and intercepting the police from performing their duty. It also arrested 4 of them.

It may be mentioned that Mirani was recovered by police yesterday, but was kidnapped again.
