KARACHI: Seismic study on Nara desert discussed

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Feb 10: The Environmental Protection Agency, Sindh, on Saturday held a public hearing on environmental impact assessment of seismic survey and filed development in Kadanwar Gas Field, Nara desert.

The secretary of forest, wildlife and environment department, Shamsul Haq Memon, who presided over the session, expressed satisfaction that the EPA was taking concerted efforts in the implementation of environmental impact assessment review process.

It was adopting defined procedure and taking additional steps to achieve the objective of public participation, said a Sindh government press release.

Mr Haq pointed out that problem surfaced when the EIA was only looked at as a one-time activity to fulfil legal obligations for obtaining an NOC.
