KARACHI, Feb 10: The Pakistan Democratic Trade Union Federation has demanded that the amount of financial assistance being given by the EOBI to retired people be increased by at least 30 per cent.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Federation leader, Dawood Khan, said those workers who retired in and after 1990 had been getting about Rs1,000 a month, and so far their pensions had not been increased.
He said the cost of living in the past decade had increased steeply, so the poor elderly people were facing hardship in making ends meet with that meagre amount.
