Two PU teachers suspended

LAHORE, Feb 9: The Punjab University on Saturday suspended an assistant professor and a leacturer of the Mass Communic-ation Department on charges of molesting a female student.

The suspension of Mustafa Kamal Pasha and Dr Ahsan Akhtar Naz came on the recommendation of a four-member inquiry committee which reportedly declared the act of the two teachers as ‘unbecoming’.

The committee heard the teachers and the complainant before forwarding its recommendations. It also called for further proceedings against the professors.

Official sources told Dawn that the Punjab University would now ask the two teachers to show cause.

They had led some students of the MA Mass Communication replica evening programme to a newspaper forum a few days ago.

On return, they allegedly molested the girl who accompanied them in their car. The ‘victim’ later brought the matter to the knowledge of the vice-chancellor.
