KOHAT, Feb 8: Three employees of Brinks security agency were killed and five others were seriously injured when their vehicle collided with a Karachi-bound coach on the Indus Highway near Shakardarra, 30 kilometres from here on Thursday evening.
In another accident, a passenger coach hit a tree after skidding off the Indus Highway near Lachi, 25km from here. As a result Yousaf, resident of Darra Adam Khel, was killed and five passengers were injured.
The vehicle of Brinks security agency was coming from Shakardarra after delivering cash to the banks when a speedy coach (C-2147) coming from the opposite direction collided with it.
As a result of the collision, three employees of the security firm died on the spot. The injured were first taken to Lachi Fauji Foundation Hospital and then shifted to Peshawar. The condition of two injured was stated to be serious.
The employees of Brinks who died in the accident were Habib, resident of Parachinar, Yousuf Ali, resident of Ibrahimzai, whereas the third victim could not be identified.
The names of the injured employees of Brinks are Aitebar Ali, Mohammad Nawaz, Wakeel Khan and Syed Omer Hussain. The injured from the Karachi coach were admitted to the Liaquat Memorial Hospital Kohat.
TWO SHOT DEAD: Two people were killed in an armed clash between rival groups in Togh Bala Town on Rawalpindi Road here.
The victims were identified as Hafeez Khan, resident of Togh Bala, and Asad Khan, resident of Bahadar Kot.
OATH-TAKING: District Nazim Malik Asad has said that in future all the programmes held at the district level would be organized through the Kohat Arts Council, which would also be given due representation in all activities.
He said that all the problems of the council would be solved, besides its annual grant would be increased so that it could play its due role in the development of social and cultural values through various programmes.
He said this while speaking at a function held at the KDA Hall after administering the oath to the newly-elected office-bearers of Kohat Arts Council on Friday.
The newly-elected Senior Vice-President of the council, Raas Masood Khattak, in his speech highlighted the role of the council and informed the Nazim about the problems being faced by them.
RANSOM: The kidnappers of Hafiz Gul Faraz, 22, who had earlier demanded Rs2 million in ransom for his release, have finally agreed to a sum of Rs1.1 million after negotiating with an official team, police said.
The victim had been missing for the last 25 days, whereas the police were suspecting his brothers to be behind the kidnapping incident.
