Relaunch of Saindak project welcomed

ISLAMABAD, Feb 8: Petroleum and Natural Resources Minister Usman Aminuddin on Friday said the relaunching of Saindak Copper Project by Metallurgical Corporation of China in the first week of March would prove a landmark in Sino-Pakistan friendship.

Talking to Chinese Ambassador Lu Shu Lin, who paid a courtesy call on him, the minister said the company had also expressed interest in the Duddar Lead Zinc Project in Balochistan.

Ambassador Lu said that the Chinese government and leadership was keen to promote and consolidate the ties, particularly in the oil, gas and mineral sectors, with Pakistan. He said that he would complete his diplomatic tenure in Pakistan shortly.

Director-General (Minerals) Rashid Malik and the economic and trade counsellors of China were also present.—APP
