PESHAWAR, Feb 8: The NWFP Minister for Revenue, Excise and Taxation, Aminullah Khan Gandapur has said that the war being fought by Kashmiris against India was actually a struggle for completion of Pakistan, therefore, India should seek a peaceful solution to the issue as war was not solution to disputes.
He was speaking as chief guest at a literary session arranged by regional office of Academy of Letters, in connection with Kashmir Solidarity Day at Peshawar on Thursday.
Aminullah said that the Kashmir issue was basically not a land dispute between Pakistan and India rather it was a longstanding problem relating to completion of Pakistan. He said Quaid-i- Azam had termed Kashmir as a life line of Pakistan, the issue was regarded as a matter of life and death by every Pakistani.
He said Kashmiris who were rendering great sacrifices could not be coerced by Indian army and hoped that the day was not far away when Kashmiris would be liberated and Kashmir becomes a part of Pakistan.
Besides others, the session was also attended by Prof Taha Khan, Dr Raj Wali Shah, Prof Aslam Taseer, Syed Zahoor Hussain, Mushtaq Shabab, Prof Nasir Ali Syed, Sajjid Sarhadi, Riaz Khan, Qudsia Qudsi, Qamar Zaman and Ikramullah and paid rich tribute to Kashmiri people.
Earlier, Said Wali Khial, resident director of Academy welcomed the guests.
NGOS: The NWFP Minister for Education, Syed Imtiaz Hussain Gillani called upon the Non Governmental Organisations not to allow elements into their ranks and file who harmed their objectives.
“NGOs played a tremendous job in the last decade for the socio-economic uplift of our country. They guide us how to achieve our targets utilizing community resources and mobilizing government machineries,” he said, while addressing the oath-taking ceremony of the working council of Sarhad NGOs Ittehad (SNI) here at Peshawar Press Club in Friday.
The SNI is not a funded body but it runs through its own local resources generated by members, Begum Meraj Humayun said in her speech as newly-elected coordinator of the SNI for the coming two Years 2002-03 along with its 16 members working council from all over the province.
She praised the efforts of the government for involving NGOs in playing their due role in the development of the country with special reference to the NWFP.
Later, Mr Gilani administered oath to 16 members working council and its elected coordinator promising.
Representatives of NGOs, media and government officials also attended the ceremony.
