KARACHI: 2 men die in road accident

KARACHI, Feb 8: Two young men died in a road accident in Gulshan-i-Iqbal on Friday morning.

The police said that a Suzuki pickup (KA-4408), coming from New Subzimandi, collided with a truck (JT-1124) at Hasan Square early in the morning. As a result, Samar Gul, aged 22, and Daulat Khan, aged 30, who were travelling on the pickup, were seriously injured. They were rushed to Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Centre (JPMC), where doctors pronounced them dead on arrival.

Several other persons travelling on the pickup were also injured who were rushed to hospital. The injured were identified as Abdul Samad, Sher Ahmed, Nisar, Mohammed Khan, and Abdul Qasim.

The police claimed to have arrested the truck driver, Amin Khan, on the spot.

WOUNDED: Two men were injured in an armed attack on Shaheed-i-Millat Expressway near Baloch Colony on Friday.

The police said that two employees of a pharmaceutical company, situated in Korangi Industrial Area, were on their way in their van (CD-1153), when they were attacked near the Manzoor Colony traffic intersection, opposite the City School PAF Chapter.

Two unidentified men sprayed the vehicle with bullets and escaped.

It seemed that they were awaiting for the vehicle, a duty officer at Korangi Industrial Area police station said.

The wounded men, Syed Ghayur Abbas, aged 30, and Arshad Aziz, aged 32, were rushed to the JPMC. They were admitted to the hospital, the police said.

The police said that the victims visited Masjid-i-Najaf to offer Juma prayers every Friday.
