No dividend by SSGC

KARACHI, Feb 8: The board of directors of Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has not recommended any dividend for the shareholders despite earning an after-tax profit of Rs1,024 million in July-December 2001 as against Rs955 million the same period last year.

This was revealed in a board of directors’ meeting of the company, presided over by the chairman Aitzaz Shahbaz. The board approved the unaudited half yearly accounts.

In a statement, SSGC, however, did not mention as to why it had not recommended any dividend.

The company sold 116,379 mmcf gas as against 98,304 mmcf the last year. As many as 28,355 new connections were given followed by production of 129,000 gas meters and laying of 268 km pipeline.

Gas purification plant attained a capacity of 86 per cent and 95 per cent transmission capacity utilized.
