CPNE to boycott pressure groups

KARACHI, Feb 7: The Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors has decided to boycott those political and non-political organizations which resort to any form of terrorism against any newspaper or magazine.

The decision is being enforced immediately against the organization on whose behalf bundles of Jang were burnt in various localities of Karachi and its distribution was stopped by force recently, as well an attempt was made to force the newspaper editors to publish their news.

A meeting of the regional committee of the CPNE, held in Karachi on Thursday and attended by editors of newspapers and magazines from Karachi and Sindh, also decided that any form of terrorism against any newspaper would be regarded as an attack on the entire newspaper industry.—PPI
