Ord on CEC’s perks creates confusion

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Feb 7: The government on Thursday withdrew the ordinance which it had issued in the morning increasing the salary and privileges of the chief election commissioner.

No official explanation was given for the faux pas. The Press Information Department first released the copies of the Ordinance called Chief Election Commissioner (Salary, Allowances and Privileges) (Amendment) Ordinance, 2002.

The amended ordinance provided that “where the commissioner has been a chief justice of Pakistan, he shall be entitled to the same salary, allowances and privileges as are admissible to chief justice of Pakistan.”
