ISLAMABAD, Feb 7: All Parties Hurriyet Conference on Thursday commended the step taken by President Gen Pervez Musharraf of emphasizing the peaceful aspect of the movement.

The NKC meeting, presided over by Chairman Sardar Abdul Qayum Khan, was attended by majority of its members and the top brass of the APHC in Pakistan.

The conference briefed the participants on the latest situation on both sides of the Line of Control and explained the efforts that the Kashmiri political leadership had undertaken for the political aspect of solution of the Kashmir dispute.

They said that India had not yet devised any force or technology that could defuse or divide the Kashmiris’ indigenous struggle for their right to self-determination.

The APHC leadership perceived that Kashmiris were the final arbiters to decide the fate of the issue. They opined that the credit for introducing Kashmiris as a party to the resolution of the issue went to Gen Musharraf.

They said the NKC should mobilise the opinion of masses and governments at home and abroad by highlighting the atrocities committed by the Indian forces on people of Kashmir, who are wrongly projected by India as terrorists.

They said that the central concern related to the Kashmir issue was “peace with justice”.

They said it was no a territorial dispute, but a human issue to be resolved in consonance with the aspirations of the people of Kashmir by the United Nations in accordance with the Security Council’s resolutions.

Sardar Qayum said the people of Pakistan and Kashmir had observed solidarity day on Feb 5 with a zealous commitment, conveying the message that the wishes of Kashmiris were central for peaceful resolution of the issue.

Federal ministers Dr Attiya Inayatullah and S.K. Tressler, Northern Areas Deputy Chief Executive Fida Mohammad Nashad, NAs Legislative Council Speaker Sahib Khan, Dr Naseem Jogezai, Nasim Zehra, Hamida Khuhro, Gohar Ayub Khan, Ajmal Khattak, Mir M. Naseer Mengal, Afraysab Khan, P.K. Shahani and Sardar Ghiyan Sigh attended the meeting with Mohammad Ashraf Sarraf, Ghulam Mohammad Safi and Yusuf Naseem of the APHC.
